Envirosight Announces New SuperVision 140 Video Inspection Crawler

New SuperVision 140 Crawler Travels 1640' Down Pipelines 6" and Larger; Boasts Rear-View Camera and Remote Lift.

Randolph, New Jersey - December 19, 2006 - Setting a new benchmark for performance and agility, the SuperVision 140 video inspection crawler from Envirosight travels as far as 1640' through pipelines 6" and larger, rapidly evaluating condition and identifying maintenance needs. Like other Envirosight crawlers, the new SuperVision 140 emphasizes maneuverability with a host of attributes: short wheelbase, steerable six-wheel drive and an array of traction options. However, it also presents several new features specifically designed to boost operator productivity:

A remote-operated camera lift that adjusts view height to center the camera in a variety of line sizes.

A monochrome rear-viewing camera with infrared illumination to help prevent flips and cable snags during reverse travel.

PipeBus network control architecture, which allows concurrent control of multiple functions; supports the attachment of auxiliary sensors and end-effectors; performs onboard diagnostics; and allows the use of lighter-weight cable for extended travel range.

The SuperVision 140's remote-operated camera lift adjusts the height of both forward- and rear-viewing cameras from 3" to 10". The forward-viewing camera pans infinitely, tilts +/- 135 deg, and zooms 40:1. Its LED light ring casts shadowless, full-spectrum illumination, and its lasers project a measurement reference to help size pipe defects. The rear-viewing camera combines a black-and-white imager with infrared lamps for maximum light sensitivity.

The new crawler incorporates leading-edge PipeBus network control architecture, which enhances system capability by embedding greater intelligence within the crawler. As a result, an operator can control multiple functions simultaneously, for example steering while traveling forward, raising the camera lift and panning the camera. And because PipeBus requires just six conductors between the crawler and controls, SuperVisions Kevlar-jacketed cable weighs a mere 0.075 oz/ft, contributing to the crawler's extended range. PipeBus also supports onboard diagnostics, remote troubleshooting and online firmware upgrades - just connect the SuperVision controller to an Internet-enabled PC.

As with all Envirosight crawlers, the SuperVision 140's design emphasizes maneuverability. Its can be steered around protruding pipe taps and other obstacles. Six-wheel drive helps it climb over debris and offsets. Short wheelbase means it can turn corners and fit through curved inverts. And a variety of wheel sizes and traction grades mean SuperVision can handle practically any combination of pipe material and condition.

SuperVision's small size and ¼" cable diameter also make it extremely portable. A SuperVision 140 system with a power-assist manual cable reel and portable controller travels easily in the back of a pickup or SUV. A SuperVision 140 system with a 1640' tension-sensing automatic cable reel, desktop controls and rack-mount CCU installs in any compact cargo van, with plenty of room to spare. All SuperVision control interfaces combine proportional joysticks, thumbwheel dials and a graphical user interface with context-sensitive keys for optimum ease-of-use.

Designed for maximum reliability and low cost-of-ownership, the SuperVision 140 features a robust one-piece stainless construction sealed for submersion to 330'. (A camera head rated for 1640' submersion is also available to inspect wells and bore holes.) For enhanced safety, the crawler contains integral pitch, roll and pressure sensors that feed real-time data back to the operator. A built in 512 Hz or 33 kHz SONDE is readily locatable.
