Dotworkz Unveils Public Safety Video Camera Enclosure

-- Built-in NVR & 4.9 GHz Module Makes New Dotworkz Xero Bandwidth Enclosure a Complete Solution for Cities Deploying Wireless Mesh Networks --

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 21, 2008 -- According to industry reports, the number of cities deploying wireless mesh networks for video surveillance is growing and proving increasingly valuable to police for catching criminals. To help municipalities keep watch over their streets, Dotworkz today unveiled its D2 Xero (TM) Bandwidth, the first ever camera enclosure specifically designed for public safety applications by fully integrating a Network Video Recorder (NVR) along with a wireless 4.9GHz module within its housing.

Because the D2 Xero Bandwidth contains its own Wi-Fi access point, control of the system over a wireless mesh network -- whether for camera management or for retrieving video data - can be performed remotely from up to one mile away from a mounted unit. Wireless engineering also makes the D2 Xero Bandwidth more cost-effective for municipalities when compared to the extensive cable runs and trenching that hard wiring cameras would require.

The Xero's built-in NVR delivers full-resolution, full-frame rate video with retention up to five days as standard. It features a C7 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM and an upgradeable 160GB SATA 2.5" hard drive. The NVR is compatible with Microsoft® Windows® XP and Server® 2003, as well as Linux operating systems. Software programs from ONSSI, Sony®, Canon®, Axis® and Milestone® are supported for maximum versatility and ease of integration.

Highly Compatible, Extremely Rugged
Compatible with 99% of IP cameras currently on the market, including those from Axis, Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic, the new D2 Xero Bandwidth enclosure is completely self-sustaining and portable for use in municipal wireless mesh networks. It can be easily repositioned from one "hot spot" location to the next in mere minutes without the need for advanced technical staffing.

Like all Dotworkz D2 models, the new D2 Xero Bandwidth offers protection to surveillance cameras that is unmatched by any other enclosure. The NEMA 4X and IP66 rated D2 is impervious to rust, corrosion and shock, plus it is proven water- and air-tight. The thermoplastic alloy construction is both vandal-proof and UV resistant.

The D2 Xero Bandwidth comes with a heater environmental unit to help keep cameras within their ideal operational temperature range. It activates at 45° F and is effective as low as 15°F. For challenging applications down to -40° F, Dotworkz offers its patented Ring-of-Fire heating system. For extreme heat, the company has the Cooldome thermo-electric cooling system that protects cameras to 145º F, far beyond the operating limits of most cameras.
