For-A to Introduce LTR-100HS Video Archive Recorder with LTO-5 Support at NAB 2010

Fort Lee, N.J., - FOR-A, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will introduce the LTR-100HS Video Archive Recorder at the 2010 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nev., April 12-15 (Booth C5219). The new recorder supports LTO-5 technology, the latest standard in long-term, high-capacity tape storage, to provide a simple and effective archive solution.

"Tape is not dead. In fact, LTO-5 is the latest standard in a popular line of high-capacity data tape storage technologies. By recording video on tape as files, broadcasters and other production facilities can use the new LTR-100HS to build compact, cost effective, and reliable archives," said Mr. Hiro Tanoue, president, FOR-A Corporation of America. "The LTR-100HS plays a major part in our Media Concierge system workflow of content management. It is a cutting-edge combination of LTO tape technology and FOR-A's baseband and MXF file technologies, which will help anyone with video content move into a file-based storage system architecture."

The LTR-100HS makes file ingest workflow more efficient and reduces archive space requirements. Equipped with a high quality MPEG-2 codec, the LTR-100HS includes an MXF wrapper/un-wrapper, so MXF files (XDCAM HD/HD422/IMX) recorded to LTO-5 tape can be used directly by many NLE systems. LTO-5 tape cartridges can store approximately 50 hours of programming recorded at 50 Mbps.

Within its compact chassis and half rack design, the LTR-100HS includes an LTO-5 drive, 2 TB hard drive, HD/SD-SDI I/O, and LCD monitor. Other features include front panel playback controls with a convenient jog/shuttle wheel, RS-422 for external VTR control, gigabit Ethernet interface for file-based I/O, and USB 2.0 interface for barcode reader, PC keyboard, or USB storage.

FOR-A will show a prototype of the LTR-100HS at the 2010 NAB Show, and the product will be available in the fall. Images of the prototype are available upon request.
