Designed for heavy metal removal with high precision, the V35R offers a maximum cutting diameter of 13.78in, a maximum cutting length of 16.93in and a maximum swing of 19.69in. The spindle is powered by a 30-horsepower motor with speeds ranging from 25 to 2,500 rpm. Maximum chuck diameter is 18in with a through-hole diameter of 3.03in. The V35R can handle parts up to 551 lbs.

X-axis travel is 9.25in, and the Z-axis features 16.93in of travel. Rapid traverse in both axes is 787 ipm.

Designed for Precision, Versatility and Long Life

Constructed with a vibration dampening rigid column and flame-hardened box ways, the turret holds up to 12 tools and is equipped with a 9.84in diameter curvic coupling, exerting a clamping force of 12,787 lbs. Indexing time is .6 sec. The control is the popular Fanuc 18i-T.

Options for Greater Flexibility

A variety of optional equipment is available including automatic work piece measurement by probe, quick tool change clamping system, live tool capability, quick tool setter, and robot/loader interface for cell operations.

Optional control features include continuous and variable lead thread cutting, work piece coordinate system pre-set, tool off-set and tool life management, and editing and storage functions.

According to Mark Davis, Product Manager for Okuma & Howa, "As many of our customers have discovered, vertical turning offers real advantages in machining heavier parts with complex configurations, as well as applications in hard or non-traditional materials. The new V35R is ideally sized to handle a wide range of parts in the medium range. Compact footprint and dual axes configuration are equally at home in stand alone mode or as part of a manufacturing cell. Since its announcement, we've had a great deal of interest from both shops and OEMs in specialties including aircraft parts, valves, automotive and defense. The V35R is the right size at the right time."
