Oshkosh Truck Subsidiary JerrDan Introduces Revolutionary Side Loading Vehicle Retriever That Provides Faster, More Efficient Performance for Urban Towing

OSHKOSH, Wis.--Dec. 2, 2005--Oshkosh Truck Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today that its towing equipment subsidiary, JerrDan Corporation, has introduced a revolutionary new concept in towing and recovery equipment, the Side Loading Vehicle Retriever (SLVR), which provides unmatched performance capabilities for city towing and recovery. The new SLVR offers fast vehicle recovery, provides unparalleled access to tightly parked cars and never blocks more than one lane during towing operations. In addition, the operator remotely controls recovery operations and never needs to leave the comfort and safety of the cab. This is the first model of its kind introduced to the U.S. towing industry and is available exclusively from JerrDan Corporation.

The new Jerr-Dan(R) SLVR will be unveiled in JerrDan's booth #909 at the American Towman Expo, December 3, in Baltimore.

"We believe that the SLVR provides the greatest advancement in towing performance over the past 25 years. During development, the focus was on helping our customers become more profitable through ingenious use of technology. The result is much more than an interesting technological achievement. This equipment sets a new standard for speed, safety and ease of recovery," said Jeff Weller, Jerr-Dan president.

The Jerr-Dan SLVR is ideally suited for towing and recovery operations on narrow, congested city streets and in one-way traffic. It incorporates a patent-pending boom and mast assembly and lift arms, which allow pick up on both sides of the retriever and "lifts and slides" the recovered vehicle onto the retriever's platform.

The SLVR offers towers a variety of unmatched benefits:

-- Because the SLVR lifts and slides the vehicle from a parallel position, towers never block more than a single lane of traffic for any recovery.

-- The mast is equipped with unique lift arms that allow the operator to access and remove any car, even with no clearance at the front or rear of the vehicle. The arms are hydraulically operated to open and close around the recovered vehicle's tires and are fully adjustable to accommodate wheelbases from 88 to 145 inches.

-- Operators can remove a car in less than 45 seconds, requiring significantly less time than with a traditional tow truck, especially for tightly parked cars in urban environments. This allows towers to recover more vehicles per day, and Jerr-Dan is confident that towers can realize a short-term payback when investing in an SLVR. The company is offering a free return-on-investment analysis for interested towers.

-- All operations are remote-controlled and monitored from inside the cab, which means the operator never needs to touch the vehicle being recovered and never has to leave the cab.

-- The SLVR reduces the opportunity for damage to the towed vehicle because the fork arms are remotely controlled, lift a vehicle by its tires and never touch the vehicle being recovered. In addition, the SLVR is equipped with dual, side-facing cameras that record the entire towing operation.

JerrDan Corporation, in conjunction with its partner, Samson Lift, invested significant capital and resources over the past two years in research, engineering prototype build and testing to develop the SLVR.
