December 7, 2010 - Suited for industrial variable torque applications, VLT® Automation VT Drive is available for 240 and 480 Vac single- and 3-phase, or 575 and 690 Vac 3-phase operation with ½-1,400 hp. Included Smart Logic Controller, main disconnects, and fusing simplify installation, while dedicated pump functions simplify programming and commissioning. Unit has ambient temperature rating of 50°C without derating. It also provides autotuning of PI-controllers as well as password protection.

New VLT® Automation VT Drive Is Cost Reducing Powerhouse for Industrial Variable Torque Applications


Modular design reduces initial investment and maximizes flexibility for future in-field upgrades

LOVES PARK, IL - Danfoss introduces the VLT® Automation VT Drive. These drives are specifically engineered to save energy, reduce up front and operating costs, and maximize uptime in industrial variable torque fan, pump, blower and compressor applications. They are available for 240 and 480 VAC single and three phase, or 575 and 690 VAC three phase operation with ½ up to 1400 HP, along with a wide range of industrial enclosure options, to support varied performance needs.

"Rooted in Danfoss' unsurpassed experience in advanced drive technologies, VLT Automation VT Drives incorporate a number of energy optimizing features that can reduce energy usage in variable torque applications by up to 30%," says Patrick Appleby, Vice President Sales, NAM Industry. "They feature a modular plug-and-play design concept with an intuitive user interface for easy installation and maximum operational flexibility. A variety of available options minimizes the initial investment, and makes it possible to easily upgrade the drives in the field as application needs evolve."

A Smart Logic Controller eliminates ancillary equipment to reduce installed costs, and main disconnects and integral fusing further reduces installation cost by reducing panel space requirements. Dedicated pump functions simplify programming and commissioning. An optional one-wire Safe Stop can reduce installed costs for applications with safe operation requirements.

All VLT Automation VT Drives feature an integrated DC link to eliminate the need for external filters, along with Intelligent Heat Management to remove excessive heat and promote maximum drive operating life. An ambient temperature rating of 50°C without derating eliminates the need for expensive cooling add-ons.

VLT Automation VT Drives provide autotuning of PI-controllers to eliminate the potential for tuning, and password protection reduces the potential for unauthorized changes to the drive settings. They are available in a variety of industrial enclosures, from protected chassis to IP66 (NEMA 4X indoor), suitable for harsh washdown environments - without the need for customized panels. These drives provide multiple language support to display all information in a user-selected language.
