Press release date: May 1, 2009

MILWAUKEE, WI, USA, MAY 1, 2009: Helwig Carbon Products, Inc. announces today the release of their new vane material, grade MH1, for use in oil-less vacuum pumps and compressors. This low wear rate vane material is specifically designed for use in dry running applications. MH1 is economical and readily available for the manufacturing of graphite vanes for OEM and aftermarket dry running vane pumps.

Helwig's testing has shown that it out performs the competitive vanes including the standard material found in major OEM vane pumps.

MH1 is a uniquely formulated resin bonded graphite that provides long vane life in non lubricated vacuum pumps and compressors. It is self lubricating, dimensionally stable, with excellent strength, hardness, and impact resistance. It can be molded to near net shape and machined to tolerances of 0.0005" [0.013 mm]. It will not damage the bore of the housing.

Paul Casper, General Manager of Helwig, says "We needed a competitive advantage in order to go after the carbon vane market, so we developed a new grade that would outperform the competition and give us more control of the cost."

MH1 is available from Helwig Carbon Products, Inc. as a precision machined finished vane.
