Spirax Introduces Smart Control Valve Positioners

BLYTHEWOOD, SC - Spirax Sarco has released the new SP300 line of smart control valve positioners. The SP300 series is designed for applications that require network communications, self-commissioning, diagnostic and/or management functions. The positioners can be used in hazardous, corrosive and vibrating environments, with maximum temperatures to 185°F (85°C) and pressures to 100 psig (7 barg).

Compact SP300 positioners are available with single or double action for use with linear or rotary valves. They offer linear, equal percentage and quick opening modes with 16 freely selectable points. Update time is 0.2 seconds and output capacity is 28 SCFM (46.7 Nm3/h) at 80 psig (5.6 barg). It also has a sensitivity, repeatability and hysteresis of 0.1% full scale.

Standard interface protocols include 4-20mA, HART, Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus. Local calibration and parameter setting can be done without external devices, reducing installation and maintenance costs. The local LCD indicator displays 4.5-digits and 5 alphanumeric characters.

The SP300 series is explosion proof, weather proof and intrinsically safe with approvals from ATEX, CSA and FM. Construction consists of polyester-painted aluminum, with optional 316 stainless steel enclosures, all rated IP67/ NEMA 4X. Feedback from the valve is provided by a non-contact (Hall effect) sensor for long-term, maintenance free reliability.
