ASSET ScanWorks Is First Test Tool for Intel's New 2nd Generation Core i3, i5, and i7 Processors

ScanWorks performs structural and functional tests on circuit boards with mobile or desktop Core (Sandy Bridge) processors

Richardson, TX - The ScanWorks® platform for embedded instruments from ASSET® InterTech (www.asset-intertech.com), the leading supplier of tools for embedded instrumentation, is the first validation and test platform to support Intel®'s new second generation CoreT processors (formerly codenamed Sandy Bridge). Manufacturers are able to perform structural and functional tests at processor speeds on circuit boards with 2nd generation Core processors intended for mobile and desktop applications.

The ScanWorks platform supports multiple test technologies, including processor-controlled test (PCT), which is able to take control of a circuit board's processor and assert structural and functional validation and test routines on the board.

"Thorough and empirical validation and test of designs, prototypes and manufactured circuit boards is emerging as a major concern for the electronics industry as the speeds and complexities of processors, and the interconnects and I/O buses on circuit boards continue to increase dramatically," said Larry Osborn, ASSET's technical product manager for PCT. "The entire supply chain, from chip makers to system manufacturers, is paying more attention to these issues. And with ScanWorks PCT for the Intel second generation Core processors, manufacturers are able to quickly and efficiently test their designs and manufactured circuit boards."

Pricing and Availability

ScanWorks PCT for Intel 2nd generation Core processors is available now from ASSET InterTech and its distributors. Pricing starts at $4,995. For product information, call 888-694-6250, fax 972-437-2826, e-mail ai-info@asset-intertech.com or visit www.asset-intertech.com.

ScanWorks® - The Embedded Instrumentation Platform

ASSET, through its ScanWorks platform, is applying the experience it has gained from two decades as a leading supplier of IEEE 1149.1 boundary-scan (JTAG) test tools to the development of open embedded instrumentation tools. The boundary-scan infrastructure that is embedded into chips and circuit boards is one of several technologies which can form the basis for an embedded instrumentation toolset. In recent years, ASSET has significantly enhanced ScanWorks beyond boundary-scan test with the addition of other embedded instrumentation technologies, including processor-controlled test (PCT) and tools for Intel® IBIST (Interconnect Built-In Self Test), an embedded instrumentation technology that Intel® and other companies are embedding into next-generation chips and chipsets.
