April 5, 2004 - Shuttleâ„¢ Vertical Lift Module and Horizontal Carousel System facilitate manufacture of medical devices. Shuttle VLM is comprised of vertically arranged trays in front and rear, inserter/extractor platform, and computerized controls. It utilizes otherwise wasted overhead space by scanning stored item's height to store in least amount of space. Horizontal carousels feature bins that rotate on oval track, delivering stored items to operator on command.

The Shuttle VLM utilizes otherwise wasted overhead space by
scanning the stored items height every time to store in the least amount of space. The system is comprised of vertically arranged trays in the front and rear of the unit, an inserter/extractor platform that rides in the center and computerized controls. Ideal for tools, dies, fixtures, fasteners, small parts, returned goods, buffer storage and
is available up to a class 10,000 clean room standard. It delivers stored materials to the operator at an ergonomically correct height for retrieval without bending, squatting or climbing. An optional wheeled cart that docks to the Shuttle VLM's extraction platform allows heavy items to be easily transported to workstations in a cellular manufacturing or assembly setup.
Horizontal carousels are a system of bins that rotate on an oval track, delivering stored items to an operator on command. The carousels work in tandem and are integrated with pick-to-light technology and software to allow easy batch picking, high throughput and high density storage. The efficiencies often increase throughputs up to 600% with 99.99% levels of accuracy and extended cut-off times.
