Newpoint Launches New Line of Uninterrupted Power Supplies Featuring Proprietary Smart Over-voltage Technology

Company Leverages Expertise in Surge Protection to Create New Line of Battery Backup Power Supplies with Revolutionary New Technology

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 / -- Newpoint, a leading manufacturer and distributor of innovative, cutting-edge power management solutions, has announced that it will be shipping its family of SaturnUPS Battery Backup/Surge Protectors. The company will be showcasing the new family of uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) at the 2006 International CES tradeshow from January 5 to 8 in Las Vegas.

"With SaturnUPS, Newpoint has raised the bar for the protection of not only valuable computer equipment, but more importantly the protection of invaluable data that is stored on the computer," said Brian Dunfee, Senior Product Manager for Connectivity and Home Theater Products at Newpoint. "Our goal was to create a product that broke the mold in terms of both technology and design. Our proprietary s-OV technology and dual UL listing ensure that consumers have the highest level of protection available today."

Newpoint's proprietary s-OV technology utilizes a microprocessor to trip relays disconnecting both the hot and neutral AC power lines when an over- voltage condition is detected. The s-OV solution completely isolates connected equipment to eradicate the danger of potential damage to sensitive electronic equipment during an over-voltage event, such as a lightning strike or damaged wiring. While the surge event is occurring and SaturnUPS has disconnected AC power to prevent connected equipment damage, its internal battery supply activates to provide backup power. After the event, s-OV automatically resets the surge protector to restore the delivery of clean, safe power and begins recharging the internal battery for future use.

SaturnUPS is the only UPS product available that is UL approved for both battery backup (UL-1778) and surge protection (UL-1449). Additionally, SaturnUPS includes UPSMON(TM) software, which monitors input and output voltage; input and output frequency; load level and battery charge level. The UPSMON software can also be programmed to automatically save open files and properly shut down the computer system should a surge event occur while the user is away from the home or office.

The line of products provides a range of capacities for various battery runtimes, depending on the user's needs. Other features include six or eight (depending on the model) adapter-spaced outlets to accommodate bulky AC adapters; automatic voltage regulation (AVR); RJ11/45 surge protection; six LED indicators; audible alarm and industry leading $1,000,000 connected equipment and five year product warranties.

The SaturnUPS line of products, which will be commercially available starting in April 2006, are priced ranging from $139.99 to $199.99. For more information about Newpoint or any of its product offerings, call 1-800-852- 4312 or visit the company's website at http://www.newpoint.com/ .
