Ultasonic System Welds Over 20 Wires to a Single Ground Lug Terminal

Wilmington, MA...Stapla Ultrasonics has developed the Terminal Welder system that can weld over 20 mm² of wire to a ground lug in a single, one-second operation. Designed for use with a wide range of terminal shapes and sizes, the system has been accepted and approved by major automobile manufacturers looking to simplify harness design, minimize terminal inventory and establish zero defect quality controls.

Stapla's ultrasonic Terminal Welder system is able to weld different wire combinations - from 20 AWG to 8 AWG wires - to a common ground without changing tooling.

The termination process is simplified because the Stapla's Terminal Welder ultrasonically welds and crimps the ground lug in a single operation. As part of the system, the Stapla generator/controller combines comprehensive quality and process control capabilities including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration. Advanced electronics are incorporated in the controller to maintain quality control variables - compression of wires before welding, weld time, energy and final weld height within tight tolerances.

In addition, to welding wires to ground lugs, Stapla ultrasonic welding systems are used to ultrasonically weld terminals, connectors and lamp sockets to wiring harnesses and flat cable conductors measuring as little as 35 microns in thickness.
