TiaLinx, Inc. Launches Eagle-5 UWB RF Imager for Precision Target Detection

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Sept. 9 -- TiaLinx, Inc., a developer of multi-application high-frequency RF solutions and antenna arrays, today announced the launch of its lightweight, hand-held ultra-wideband (UWB) Gigahertz band imager capable of substantial depth penetration through-wall or in-ground. The device employs focused ultra-low power nano-second pulsing, high gain pulse code/correlation of image information out of the noise, and advanced image enhancement algorithms. Eagle-5 outperforms present technology Ground Penetrating Radars in terms of image resolution and depth penetration while being capable of operating in extreme environmental conditions that would make such systems inoperable (including ice, snow, or wet soil). Eagle-5 was developed in part by a Phase I SBIR (contract number W15QKN-07-C-0013, Department of Army). An enhanced version incorporating real-time image viewing has recently been demonstrated under follow-on Phase II SBIR (W15QKN-08-C-0247).

"Eagle-5 development took advantage of granted and pending patents of TiaLinx's ultra-low power beamforming imager and advanced imaging technologies," commented Dr. Fred Mohamadi, Founder and CEO of TiaLinx. "TiaLinx's highly integrated RF sensor design, advanced signal processing and image construction methodology are revolutionizing multi-discipline DoD projects and positioning TiaLinx to be a leader in addressing applications related to user-friendly hand-held precision target detectors."

Eagle-5's entire system weighs less than 4 lbs. with GPS location register and wireless download options for survey of a desired area. The system can be used as a man-portable, robot or UAV deployable radar system capable of high-resolution tomography of the target areas for locating objects either hidden in ground, walls, floors, behind doors, or otherwise camouflaged.
