UV Curing System for Blu-Ray Disc(TM) Manufacturing

A new UV curing system for Blu-ray Disc(TM) manufacturing that employs pulsed UV light to penetrate the protective top cover layer and provide a complete cure is being introduced by Xenon Corporation of Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Xenon's CoolCureXL RC-801 Curing System employs pulsed UV light which provides 1,000 w/cm2 peak pulse power to penetrate and completely cure the 100 µm (0.1 mm) thick transparent protective layer on Blu-ray discs (BD). Featuring a proprietary spiral lamp to match the footprint of these 12 cm dia. discs, this modular system can be easily integrated into any in-line process for manufacturing third generation optical storage media.

Consisting of a lamp housing, a separate controller, and power supply, Xenon's CoolCureXL RC-801 Curing System produces <300 micro-second pulses and does not create or use VOCs. This mercury-free, pulsed UV light curing system provides instant on/off, fast cycle times, and cool operation. The new BD discs will be available in both 25 GB and 50 GB storage capacities, which is more than 10 times the capacity of conventional 4.7 GB DVD discs.

Xenon's CoolCureXL RC-801 Curing System is priced from $9,950.00, depending upon configuration. Literature and pricing are available upon request.
