USB-to-Serial Cable for Laptop PCs Without Serial Ports

Fairport, New York. US232B/LC is a ready-made cable-and-software solution in compact form for giving no-serial-port laptops RS232 capability. Designed to tuck into the limited space in a laptop carrying case, the cost-effective US232B/LC is based on FTDI's extremely popular single chip FT232BM USB UART i.c. for transferring serial data over the Universal Serial Bus. With an attractive blue housing and a short 4" cable, US232B/LC cable can be used on its own to instantly talk to RS232 devices from the USB port using the Virtual COMport drivers supplied.

US232B/LC features a full set of RS-232 modem data and control signals (TxD, RxD, RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR, DCD, RI, and GND) on its PC compatible DB9 male connector. US232B/LC has an internal 128 byte transmit buffer FIFO and a 384 byte receive buffer FIFO. It supports RS232 data transfer rates of up to 460K bps. US232B/LC takes its power from the USB bus so no power supply is needed.

US232B/LC is available from stock at $35.00 and comes complete with drivers for Microsoft Windows '98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Drivers are also downloadable for Apple OS-8/9/X, as well as Linux.
