World's Smallest USB-Serial Adapter?

HR-USBUART(TM) is a complete USB-to-UART bridge, based on Silabs CP2101, providing the perfect solution for updating RS-232 designs to USB using minimum space. Eight pins on a standard 0.1" pitch provide key signals to get you up and running, including 5V and 3.3V power, ground, transmit and receive. Featuring a tiny camera-type USB connector, HR-USBUART(TM) is completely self-contained, and at a mere 15mm x 15mm may well be the smallest available.

With so many microcontrollers offering hardware UARTs, it is simple and attractive option to add a computer interface to your design. However, RS232 serial ports have now almost completely been overshadowed by USB ports, which offer compact connectors, a power source and extremely fast transfer speeds. For this reason, most PCs no longer have built in RS232 serial ports. Royalty-free virtual COM port (VCP) device drivers are provided to allow a HR-USBUART based product to appear as a COM port to PC applications. Baud rates of up to 921600 bits/sec are possible and an on-chip EEPROM may be used to customize many product specific variables. A unique serial number is given to every HR-USBUART device during manufacture, allowing multiple HR-USBUART(TM)-based systems to be connected to the same PC.

HR-USBUART(TM) is possibly the easiest and tiniest way to add USB1.1 (2.0-compliant) capabilities to your product. USB's 5V and regulated 3.3V output are available, and Tx/Rx operate on either 5V or 3.3V logic. Suspend and reset pins signals are provided on pins too for power management of both the device as well as external circuitry. Royalty free device drivers operate on Windows, Mac and Linux systems.

HR-USBUART(TM) is available now at $25 {qty 1) from stock at Saelig Co. Inc. www.saelig.com 1-888-7SAELIG from stock info@saelig.com.
