Silex Introduces World's First Wireless USB Device Server with Streaming Video and Audio Data Transfer

New Isochronous Capability Enhances Company's Leadership in USB Networking Technology

TUSTIN, Calif., Jan. 15 -- Silex Technology today announced the SX-2000WG+ USB device server with isochronous data transfer support. The SX-2000WG+ allows streaming video and audio USB devices like webcams and speakers to be easily shared among multiple Windows and Macintosh users over an 802.11b/g wireless network or an Ethernet wired network. The SX-2000WG+ also supports virtually all other types of USB devices, making it ideal for home and small business applications.

The SX-2000WG+ is the latest in Silex's family of industry-leading USB device server products. Like all Silex USB device servers, the SX-2000WG+ uses the innovative SX Virtual Link software to provide transparent network access to USB devices. SX Virtual Link emulates a direct USB port on Windows or Macintosh systems and transfers the packets out over the network to the SX-2000WG+. It is totally compatible with virtually all USB device drivers and software applications.

"The SX-2000WG+ further strengthens our leadership position in networking USB devices," said Keith Sugawara, General Manager of Silex Technology America.

"With the addition of isochronous support, users can now share virtually any kind of USB device over a wireless or wired network. No other company can match our capabilities and compatibility in this market."

The SX-2000WG+ supports 802.11b/g wireless network connectivity, 10/100 autosensing Ethernet, and USB 2.0 Hi-Speed device connectivity (isochronous devices are limited to USB 2.0 Full-Speed). It will be available this month through Silex distribution channels for $149 MSRP. Silex is also targeting OEM partners who want to easily add connectivity to devices.
