CAP Wireless Introduces the US1498 High Power, Solid State, UHF Power Amplifier for Airborne and Fixed Location Operations

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. - Sept. 2, 2008 - CAP Wireless, Inc. (CAP), a leading supplier of high performance microwave and RF amplifiers and amplifier-based subsystems, today announced the US1498 high power, solid state, ultra-high frequency (UHF) power amplifier, which is designed especially for airborne and fixed location operations. The US1498 delivers outstanding efficiency, linearity, and power amplification, and its robust construction facilitates operation in thermally challenging settings.

The unit employs laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) device technology, which ensures reliability and robustness in high temperature and poor load voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) environments. Additional benefits of this technology include high gain and operating efficiency. The dual input, single output design provides a minimum of 100 watts per channel output across a frequency range
of 290-320 MHz. The amplifier operates at full rated capability when operated from a 22 to 32 volt DC power supply. The US1498 is packaged in a thermally efficient finned aluminum housing for customersupplied forced air cooling, and incorporates digital attenuators on each channel that enable independent power control of each channel.

Key features of the US1498:

o Outstanding power efficiency (>28 % two channels, 100 watts/channel)

o Excellent linearity (<-30 dBc)

o Robust LDMOS device technology

o Wide range DC supply voltage capability (22-32 VDC)

o Min. 100 watts per channel or 250 watts single channel

o Lightweight aluminum housing

o Four bit attenuators for independent power control of each channel

o Enhanced redundancy capability

o Dual input/single output for single or dual channel operation

o VSWR and high temperature alarm outputs

o AN/PRC 117(F) compatible

o Integrated output isolator for excellent impedance match and protection against poor VSWR

o Continuous operation at elevated ambient temperatures
