June 2, 2010 - Madison Cable brand InfiniTwist cables simplify cable management in high-density systems via bend radius of less than 2.5X cable diameter. Cables exhibit virtually no pistoning of conductors or pairs, and twisted-pair design promotes flexibility as well as mechanical reliability while decreasing time delay skew. Offered in constructions of 1-36 pairs and above, cables utilize conductor sizes 32-24 AWG and support transmission speeds up to 16 GHz and beyond.

Tyco Electronics launches a new family of Madison Cable brand InfiniTwist cables designed to outperform parallel-pair cable products currently available in the market in bend radius, flexibility and overall mechanical reliability.

Product Features
  • Increased flexibility due to use of twisted-pair construction
  • Improved mechanical reliability compared to parallel-pair types
  • Virtually no pistoning of condustors or pairs

    Applications
  • InfiniBand standard (SDR, DDR, QDR, FDR - 1X, 4X,12X)
  • 10G/40G/100G Ethernet standard (1X, 4X, 10X)
  • SAS 6 and 12 Gb/s, SFP+, QSFP+, CXP, CR4, CR10, 16 Gb/s Fibre Channel standard applications

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Tyco Electronics launches a new family of Madison Cable brand InfiniTwist cables designed to outperform parallel-pair cable products currently available in the market in bend radius, flexibility and overall mechanical reliability.

Utilizing a twisted shielded-pair design, InfiniTwist cables improve cable management in high-density systems through a tighter bend radius that is less than 2.5X cable diameter, per testing in accordance to SFF 8417 Multi Conductor Cable Flex Cycle Test Procedure. The cables exhibit virtually no pistoning of conductors or pairs -- reducing commonly-known parallel-pair design termination issues. The twisted-pair design increases flexibility and mechanical reliability compared to parallel pair, decreases time delay skew and improves mode conversion.

Available in constructions of 1 through 36 pairs and above, InfiniTwist cables utilize conductor sizes of 32 AWG through 24 AWG to meet the demands of various interconnect lengths. The cables can be manufactured in either 85 or 100 Ohm impedance and support transmission speeds up to 16 GHz and beyond.

    The high-speed cables are well-suited for SAS 6, SFP+, QSFP+, CXP, CR4 and CR10 applications, as well as InfiniBand (SDR, DDR, QDR, FDR -- 1X, 4X,12X), 10G/40G/100G Ethernet (1X, 4X, 10X) and Fibre Channel (12 Gb/s, 16 Gb/s) standards -- and other applications as specified by customers.
