May 31, 2011 - Designed for test cell and on-vehicle testing, turboSPEED DZ136 enables measurements on titanium or aluminum turbocharger blades, with spacing of up to 1.5 mm at speeds from 500-400,000 rpm. Operating at 3 MHz, sensors also measure temperature and operate in ambient temperatures up to 285°C. Included amplifier extends maximum distance between controller and sensor to 10 m. All settings, like number of blades, sensitivity, and speed range are designated at front end of controller.

New Turbocharger Speed Sensor System for Test Cell and On-Vehicle Testing

Micro-Epsilon has launched the new turboSPEED DZ136 turbocharger rotation speed sensor for test cell and on-vehicle testing. Like its predecessor, the DZ136 enables measurements on turbocharger blades made from titanium or aluminium, with a spacing of up to 1.5mm and at speeds of 500rpm up to 400,000rpm.

All settings are carried out at the front end of the controller. The number of blades, sensitivity and speed range can all be selected using the controller. While positioning the sensor, LEDs on the controller show the distance to the object being measured. The sensors operate at a measuring frequency of 3MHz and have an integrated temperature measurement feature. No adjustments are necessary when replacing a sensor. The sensors are suitable for use at ambient temperatures of up to 285°C. The robust stainless steel preamplifier extends the maximum distance between the controller and sensor to 10m.

During the design of the DZ136, the main focus was placed on resistance to interference, simply to make the operation of the tester more reliable for on-vehicle testing.
