Mazak Showcases Multi-Axis FG-150 Tube & Pipe Laser

SCHAUMBURG, IL– For the first time at IMTS, Mazak will showcase the FabriGear-150. This 21-axis, automated rotary laser can fabricate tube, pipe and structural with the contours and bevels needed for tight fit ups on a wide variety of pipe joints and with other intersecting or adjoining pipes.

To achieve these complex 3D shapes, the FG-150’s 64-bit NC simultaneously controls a 5-axis laser cutting head and four individual rotary chucks. The high precision of laser cutting results in tight dimensional part accuracy that can save or eliminate time and costs in downstream operations such as pipe fitting and welding.

The FG-150 automatically loads, feeds, laser cuts, and unloads round and rectangular pipe as well as I-beam and other structural raw material shapes with up to 4.0 square and round diameter. Like the FG-300, which handles up to 8.0” square and 10.5 round materials, this smaller-diameter high-speed 3D-rotary laser is designed for efficient 3D-rotary processing in job shops and production houses. It is also available with a bundle loader.

Mazak will also demonstrate the FG CAD/CAM software, used to program the FabriGear. The advanced, user-friendly software incorporates illustrated fill-in-the-blank screens to quickly generate NC code, performs dynamic nesting and has over 70 pre-programmed cut conditions.

The FG-150 is part of a broad line of 1500 to 4000 watt Mazak CO2 laser cutting machines and automated material handling equipment designed for efficient processing of sheetmetal and plate up to 1.00” thick. The line is offered in the U.S. by Mazak Laser Corporation, Schaumburg, IL.
