Meggitt Sensing Systems Offers Complete Triaxial Solution

Germantown, MD -- Meggitt, a leading supplier of quality vibration sensors and sensor
networks offers a trio of triaxial products for permanent and hand held vibration monitoring applications. Wilcoxon triaxial sensors, cables and connection boxes are appropriate for monitoring most industrial rotating equipment including cooling tower fans, blowers, pumps, compressors, chillers, gearboxes, mixers and motors.

Meggitt's model 993B-7-M12 is the latest addition to the Wilcoxon Research three axis series. It features the versatile M12 connector well known in the process industry for its reliable connections in automated connections. It also boasts an upgraded external case resulting in a thicker shell for better resistance to impact. Designed for both route based and permanent mount applications, this full performance triaxial accelerometer hosts three general purpose 100 mV/g vibration sensors with ± 10% sensitivity tolerance. For permanent mounting applications, a captive mounting screw allows the sensor to be mounted in the most convenient direction for cable placement. Released in conjunction with the sensor are a multitude of cable options that cover a broad range of applications.

Straight, coiled, and Teflon® coated options are available terminated in a variety of industry standard connectors such as BNC, Turck, Fischer (6 or 11 pin) or Bendix. Having an easily removable and replaceable cable in place of an integral cable, results in cost savings in the unfortunate event of cable damage. Instead of replacing the sensor and cable, only the cable needs replacement. The design options for these cables allow users to choose the option to connect or isolate the shield and
the sensor housing, providing the most flexibility in dealing with ground loops or RF interference.

Meggitt manufactures a variety of high quality Wilcoxon Research triaxial sensors which consist of three sensing elements within a single rugged casing. The 993B-7-M12 is a premium unit which features a broad frequency range from 2-10,000 Hz on the Z axis, and 2-7,000 Hz on the X and Y axes. Improved individual channel amplifiers of the 993B-7-M12 work to reduce the influence of out of band signals, thereby minimizing sensor overload, a condition which renders sensor data unusable. Additionally designed enhancements have increased each channels' dynamic range by 20 g. Users of Wilcoxon triaxial sensors note the increased speed of data collection and inherently consistent
outputs since all data is collected simultaneously by matching triaxial data collection systems. The 993B-7-M12 follows the hermetically sealed, ESD protected and EMI/RFI shielded format that has made Wilcoxon Research sensors the standard in many plants worldwide. Reverse wire protection comes standard, to protect the internal circuit from failure, should the input power be misconnected.

Wilcoxon triaxial cable and connector options offer robust protection in permanent mount applications for harsh environments. Advanced potting and soldering techniques complement ruggedized Kevlar® reinforced cables capable of pull strengths up to 100 pounds. Wilcoxon M12 connectors are IP67 rated and well suited for wet, moisture laden environments. They can be mated with the J9T4A family of Teflon® coated cable assemblies or the new J84 cable, a Kevlar® reinforced cable which comes straight or coiled. Two length options are offered for the coiled version, ideal for portable data
collection. For permanent mounting applications, CBT2 cable boxes are an easy plug and play solution for M12 to M12 connections. Rated at IP65, cable boxes are waterproof and connect remotely installed accelerometers to portable data collectors. The use of M12 connectors on the outside of the box simplifies field installation. Prewiring the connections eliminates the danger of crosswiring sensor signals and greatly reduces installation times.
