June 8, 2007 - Optimizing performance of Starfish Air-Evac® liner, Air-Evac® Station 3 maximizes amount of high viscosity fluids that can be extracted from bag-in-box packages. Hands-free system works by replacing volume of liquid pumped out of inner chamber of bag with shop air introduced to chambers on outside of bag. It is suitable for sanitary and ergonomic discharge of dairy, beverage, dressings and condiments, health and beauty aids, confectionaries, and chemicals.

Arena Air-Evac® Station 3 Maximizes Process Efficiency and Reduces Waste

ROCHESTER, NY., May 29, 2007 - A.R. Arena Products, Inc. has introduced a unique top transfer pump mechanism that provides more efficient, sanitary, and ergonomic discharge of high viscosity products, it was announced today.

The Arena AES-3 helps maximize the performance of the Starfish Air-Evac® liner, which is designed to reduce residual and waste of high-viscosity products. The addition of the Air-Evac® Station 3 improves process productivity using existing pumps by reducing change-over time, and simplifying cleanup.

"The combination of the AES-3 and Air-Evac liner delivers much more than reduced residual waste," said Mike Brunhuber, vice president of Arena Products. "They provide a more productive, efficient, and safe method of product discharge."

The stainless steel AES-3 works with many styles of pumps. Totes with product are placed underneath the pump, and the pump evacuates from the top of the tote. This eliminates the need to attach an additional hose, and it eliminates the potential safety hazard of hoses lying on the floor near the packaging line. The top discharge also eliminates the need for workers to bend over to attach and disassemble hoses, reducing worker injuries.

In addition to providing improved safety and ergonomics, the Air-Evac Station 3 improves processing by speeding up the time it takes to switch out products on a packaging line.

The AES-3 and Air-Evac liners are designed for any high-viscosity products including those used in dairy, beverage, dressings and condiments, health and beauty aids, confectionaries, and chemicals.

Arena's Air-Evac system is an advanced bag technology that dramatically increases the amount of high viscosity fluids that can be extracted from bag-in-box packages. The patented, hands-free system is vastly different from conventional methods of emptying liquid from bag-in-box liners. The system works by replacing the volume of liquid pumped out of the inner chamber of the bag with shop air introduced to chambers on the outside of the bag. The inflating air chambers push the liquid content toward the bag outlet. Air volume is increased as the liquid content decreases. As product pools around the pump inlet, it can be easily pumped out, enabling the Air-Evac to achieve very low residual levels, virtually eliminating waste. The shop air does not come in to direct contact with the bag contents, preventing product contamination.
