Eaton's Hydraulics Training Services Introduces Redesigned HTS-2 Hydraulics Training System for Classroom Fluid Power Simulations

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today its Hydraulics Training Services have introduced a completely re-designed hydraulic training system incorporating improvements and enhancements based on experience gained in many years of instructional experience. The new HTS-2 fluid power training simulator provides a cost-effective solution for hands-on demonstration of hydraulic principles for a classroom or lab environment.

"The HTS-2 graphically demonstrates the vital principles of aeration and cavitation while giving students hands-on experience with sequencing circuits, series and parallel component operations, flow control, hydraulic counterbalancing, and a wide range of other fundamental concepts," said Tom Blansett, Eaton's training services manager. "It builds on the lessons learned from many years of classroom experience with Eaton's widely used FPT-4 simulator to provide an even more effective tool for training hydraulics professionals."

The HTS-2 is a dual operator station simulator that can accommodate up to four students at a time. Each panel of the HTS-2 is equipped with:

o A lever operated, four-way, three position, tandem center directional control valve

o A sequence valve

o A pressure reducing/relieving valve

o A check valve

o A pressure compensated flow control valve

o A counterbalance valve

o A normally open two-position solenoid valve

o Two cylinders - one equipped with adjustable proximity switch
and another equipped with resistive spring load

o A low speed high torque Geroler(TM) spool valve motor

o Pressure gages

o Two plumbing tees

A central power unit supplies one or both sides of the HTS-2 with a total flow of 3 gpm at 500 psi. The power unit can be plugged into a standard 120VAC 15 amp lighting circuit.

"We selected the components mounted on each panel to represent those most commonly found in hydraulic applications today," Blansett said. "They are easily connected together with flexible hoses and leak-free couplers to create many variations of basic hydraulic circuits students will deal with in actual applications.

"The HTS-2 also comes with a detailed instructor's guide that explains each exercise and provides a pictorial representation of each circuit to ensure proper assembly. "The goal," said, "is to couple hands-on experience with strong visual feedback to reinforce the student's learning experience. Many years of instruction based on the previous designs of fluid power trainers have shown this combination to be the most effective way to teach students the basic hydraulics principles they need to achieve success in the workplace."
