Anritsu Networks Adds 10GbE Support to PureFlow® Family of Traffic Shaping Appliances

-- Proprietary Precision Bandwidth Control Technology Eliminates 'Microbursts' and Minimizes Latency in Data Center and Cloud Services Environments --

LAS VEGAS -- Anritsu Networks (Interop booth #2268), a wholly owned subsidiary of Anritsu Corporation, announces its PureFlow(®) GSX of traffic shaping appliances, capable of supporting 10GbE networks. The PureFlow( )GSX utilizes a proprietary precision bandwidth control technology that eliminates "microbursts" and minimizes latency for time-sensitive applications, thereby optimizing 10GbE uplink and downlink throughput speeds.

Anritsu Networks PureFlow( )GSX appliance has been specifically developed to address the high-bandwidth needs associated with cloud computing, video streaming and other rich-content services. It shapes 10Gbps packet "microbursts" from a server to the optimum packet interval using next-generation 10GbE traffic bandwidth control for improved throughput in data center and cloud services environments.

With this introduction, Anritsu Networks is building on its market leadership in traffic-shaping solutions using its PureFlow appliances. The PureFlow family, which prioritizes management and traffic sharping, is targeted at ensuring fair access for mission-critical applications, while improving traffic-bandwidth-constraint/latency problems in data centers and remote locations across a WAN. The 10Gbps maximum throughput performance in both the uplink and downlink( )helps maximize return on investment in WAN bandwidth by offering burst traffic solutions to service providers using 10GbE high-speed, large-capacity lines as virtual private networks.

The PureFlow family's high-accuracy, microsecond-order, packet scheduling is achieved using proprietary, precision bandwidth control technology developed by Anritsu. With the addition of the PureFlow( )GSX, Anritsu Network's popular PureFlow( )appliances are capable of supporting 100M/1Gbps and 10Gbps speeds. By eliminating "microbursts" and minimizing latency, the PureFlow GSX reduces the possibility of packet loss interfering with communications on WAN and mobile broadband networks.

Development Background

Businesses are accelerating their BCP (Business Continuity Plan) countermeasures, increasing use of data centers and cloud services in the IT field. These services greatly increase traffic flows on carrier networks. In the mobile communications field, the explosive growth of smartphones and tablets is causing rapid increases in backhaul traffic.

As cloud service usage grows, the data communications business world is accelerating development of 10GbE networks with higher speeds and larger capacity. Along with the expected increases in rich-content data, traffic "microbursts" causing unexpected packet losses are also starting to appear more frequently, increasing the need for traffic bandwidth control on 10GbE infrastructure. The PureFlow( )GSX was developed to address these concerns.
