November 11, 2005 - Designed for charge-transfer capacitive touch-sensing switch applications, QT110 series creates touch-sense fields through dielectric surfaces such as plastic or glass up to 4 in. thick. QTouch sensor ICs can also turn small objects into sensors and work through gloved hands. Along with lifetime auto-calibration and drift compensation, series features current consumption down to 10 µA and automatic adjustment to build-up of dirt, moisture, and temperature.

Quickly Add an Economical Touch Control to Your Product!

September 2005 - for immediate release

Pittsford, NY: QT110 family of QTouch sensor ICs are designed for ultra- reliable charge-transfer capacitive touch-sensing switch applications and are ideal for simple, inexpensive touch controls in almost any product. The very-low-consumption QT110 family can create touch-sense fields through dielectric surfaces such as plastic or glass up to 100mm (4") thick, and can even turn small objects into sensors, or work easily through gloved hands. QT113 and QT118H can also be used for material, liquid or moisture sensing, requiring only an external sampling capacitor and an electrode to operate. On/Off Buttons, Appliance Controls, Security Detection, Lighting Controls, Intrinsically Safe Switches, and Toys/Interactive Games are typical applications.
Unique features of QTouch sensor ICs include: fully debounced results, lifetime auto- calibration, drift compensation, recalibration timeouts, plus a variety of response times, output polarities and toggle modes. These parts need no special calibration or adjustment. They automatically adjust to the build-up of dirt, moisture, and temperature variations. Most QT110 family devices are designed for human touch. QT110 and QT118H include piezo beeper drive logic, with current consumption as low as 10µA.

QT110/113/118 are available from stock from Saelig Co. (USA distributor for Quantum Research UK) at $1.55 (3K). Also available is a $20 E11x Demonstration Board, which allows a simple evaluation of all three QT110/113/118 QTouch ICs
