Command® Introduces More Than 60 New Thermolock® Shrink-Fit Toolholders and Extensions for Smaller-Sized High-Speed Tools
Ramsey, MN— July 5, 2005 —Command Tooling Systems has expanded its offering of the successful Thermolock® toolholders by offering more than 60 new small-sized holders designed for tools down to 1/8” and metric sizes down to 3mm. The company also announced new Thermolock® extensions ideal for small diameter tools that expand the functionality of larger toolholders. The new Thermolock toolholders and extensions meet the growing demand for high-speed tools in smaller sizes, designed to enhance quality and throughput in high-production environments.
The new toolholders incorporate industry proven Shrinker® technology, offering excellent clamping characteristics and balance repeatability. “This expanded selection of Thermolock toolholders are ideal for carbide tools and high-speed die & mold applications, providing exceptional surface finishes, superior cut duplication and extended tool life,” stated Dennis King, Director of Engineering. “And the Thermolock extensions not only extend tools for difficult to reach areas, but also expand the range of larger holders and existing machine centers to utilize smaller tools,” King added.
The Thermolock system offers superior runout for increased tool life and improved surface finish. Easier changeover and faster setup increases spindle uptime and throughput, along with faster cycle times and reduced scrap rates. Thermolock has no moving parts, set screws, collets or nosepieces, yet provides excellent 360-degree concentric clamping force and the highest degree of balance available. The enclosed design makes Thermolock components virtually maintenance-free— resistant to dirt, chips and coolant. All Thermolock toolholders are ready for through-spindle coolant delivery, with through-flange or surround coolant optional. V-Flange, HSK40, HSK50, and HSK63 styles available in sizes ranging from .125”-1.250” and metric sizes 3mm-32mm. BT-Flange and HSK100 styles available in sizes down to .313” and metric sizes down to 8mm.
