IDT Develops Industry's First Embedded DisplayPort-Based 3-D Timing Controller for LCD Notebook Panels

New 3-D TCON Uses IDT PanelPort(TM) Technology to Enable Notebook Users to Experience Latest 3-D Gaming and Digital 3-D Content

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today announced the development of the industry's first embedded DisplayPort®-based timing controller (TCON) to support 3-D resolution in notebooks that use a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitor. The new IDT eDP 3-D TCON brings the 3-D viewing experience into the portable realm, allowing gamers and video enthusiasts to enjoy the 3-D experience on the go.

In addition, the IDT eDP 3-D TCON integrates a backlight LED driver to improve the image quality on the notebook display. By integrating the LED driver, the new IDT eDP 3-D TCON helps reduce power consumption, which extends battery life. It also provides designers with increased flexibility and reduced component count, helping reduce bill of materials and decrease time to market for notebook providers.

"This is another astonishing milestone for IDT as it further validates DisplayPort as a versatile, high-performance interface for the next generation of displays. This new development confirms the IDT commitment to providing our customers with innovative solutions that take advantage of the many benefits of DisplayPort," said Ji Park, vice president and general manager of the Video and Display Operation at IDT. "Gamers and video enthusiasts will now be able to enjoy the ultimate 3-D experience wherever and whenever they wish right on their notebook."

The IDT eDP 3-D TCON is compliant to VESA DisplayPort 1.1a standard, and supports up to four differential-pair lanes at 1.62Gbps and 2.7Gbps link rates. In addition, the IDT 3-D TCON supports popular resolutions of 1280x800, 1366x768, 1440x900,1600x900, 1600x945, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 for notebooks using thin film transistor (TFT) LCD panels.
