April 17, 2003 - BALINIT® ENDURA offers optimization potential with turning and milling tools in highly abrasive applications. High metal removal rates can be realized by cutting with high speed and feed rates simultaneously. Coating provides protection against abrasive wear. Ratio of residual compressive stress to hardness stabilizes tool cutting edge under high loads, and increased thickness reduces heat transfer to tool and offers protection against cratering.

New TiAIN High Performance Coating from the Global Leader in PVD Coating Technology

With the official U.S. launch of the new high performance coating, BALINIT® ENDURA, for turning and milling tools in May, at EASTEC, Balzers lives up to its reputation as the global leader in PVD coating technology, delivering the key to performance gains for tools in specific applications. The new BALINIT® coating, which has been successfully tested by reference customers, significantly boosts productivity and greatly improves process stability.

Thanks to its outstanding characteristics, BALINIT® ENDURA offers significant optimization potential with turning and milling tools in highly abrasive applications. High metal removal rates can be realized by cutting with high speed and feed rates simultaneously, taking high speed cutting to high performance cutting.

With its greater thickness, BALINIT® ENDURA provides the highest degree of protection against abrasive wear, allowing replacement of current CVD coating applications. An optimized ratio of residual compressive stress to hardness stabilizes the tool cutting edge under high loads and the increased thickness reduces heat transfer to the tool and offers a better protection against cratering. The new TiAIN coating shows excellent results on grooving inserts.

Around the world, customers in the metal and plastics processing industries take advantage of the global market leader's know-how. Balzers currently operates 50 coating centers at key industrial sites in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. All centers are equipped with latest generation systems to guarantee the reproducibility of the company's high quality standards worldwide.
