Thread Verification Unit inspects internal threaded holes.
August 23, 2005 - All-electric Thread Verification Unit checks threaded holes by powering probe into and out of part. High-speed drive allows probe to stop in case of missing or malformed threads, registering fault. Able to check thread in 1 sec, servo model includes servomotor, servodrive, and motion programming. Featuring mounted brushless dc motor with speed control, nonservo unit offers cycle times starting at 3 sec. Both verify thread sizes from 3–25 mm.

Thread Verification Unit (TVU) Developed by New Vista Corporation
Baltimore, MD– New Vista Corporation has developed an automated Thread Verification Unit (TVU) that performs inspection of internal threaded holes. A more certain alternative to eddy current sensing for high volume manufacturers, the TVU quickly and automatically checks threaded holes by powering a probe into and out of the part. The all-electric unit employs a sensitive high-speed drive that allows the probe to stop in case of missing or malformed threads, registering a fault.
The TVU comes in two basic models: servo and nonservo. A servo TVU, which includes a servomotor, servodrive, and motion programming, can check a thread as quickly as a second, where the thread length is equal to the diameter. A nonservo TVU, which includes a mounted brushless DC motor with speed control, is a lower cost alternative with cycle times starting at 3 seconds. Both servo and nonservo TVUs will verify thread sizes from 3mm to 25mm (#4 to 1”). Larger sizes are quoted as specials.
