APS Introduces First Blow Moldable Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV)

ROMULUS, MI – A newly developed extrusion blow moldable Viprene™ thermoplastic vulcanite (TPV) is now available  from APS (Alliance Polymers and Services LLC).  The material can be press blow molded, suction blow molded or 3D sequential coextruded.  The new TPV from APS offers new opportunities for designers and manufacturers to economically mold automotive parts, aircraft and other vehicle parts for applications including hollow boots, bellows and ducts.

The special new grade of Viprene™ blow moldable thermoplastic vulcanizate is offered as an comparable alternative to competitive higher priced TPVs and can be substituted for more costly parts made out of silicone or ethylene-acrylic rubber boots.

With a formulation optimized for a variety of parts needed for their softness and in temperatures ranging from 40°F to 347°F (40°C to 175°C) while retaining flexibility, the new TPV is available in Shore A hardness of 90.

Viprene TPV is formulated for complex hollow parts with good dimensional precision minor part variation and requires minimal flashing and trimming, and offers excellent chemical and temperature resistance.

APS (Alliance Polymers and Services LLC) is an established TPE technology resource, offering service, technical support and TPE materials (TPEs, TPVs, TPUs and other soft elastomers) for consumer and industrial applications.  Company offerings include Maxelast ® TPEs, Viprene ™ TPVs, Xythane ™ TPUs, TPE alloys, compounding series and custom and standard soft elastomer formulations.
