Thermoplastic Elastomers offer alternative to thermoplastic vulcanizates. .

Press Release Summary:

Available in numerous stock grades and hardnesses from 59-93 Shore A and 41-51 Shore D, StarPrene® TPEs are resistant to many acids, bases, and aqueous solutions. Elastomers offer both flexibility and colorability and support variety of processing options including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming. Products are suited for automotive parts, appliances, electrical products, healthcare and packaging goods, and construction components.

Original Press Release:

Star Thermoplastics Has Introduced the Firm's Newest Elastomer Offering

Star Thermoplastics has introduced the firm's newest elastomer offering - a line of TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers) that mold and perform better than TPVs (thermoplastic vulcanizates - EPDM rubber and polypropylene) and are more competitively priced.. They are being sold under the StarPrene® trade name.

Star Thermoplastics, a Division of Star Thermoplastic Alloys & Rubbers Inc. (founded in 1993), a Chicago-based TPE producer, arguably is the first TPE producer to offer standard and custom TPE grades that are comparable to competitive TPVs, but at better pricing levels.. Also, with their expansive rheology and analytical instrumentation laboratory facilities, Star is able to duplicate any existing TPE, and now TPVs with equivalent or improved TPE formulations.

Advantages of StarPrene TPEs as compared to TPVs include:

o Better flow characteristics with the same rheology

o More high flow versions

o Easier to color and more consistent colors

o Better tensile strength and elongation

o Wider range of hardnesses available, from 59 - 93 Shore A and 41 to 51 Shore D

o No need to dry the material before processing

The new family of StarPrene TPEs is available in numerous stock grades AND Star can clone or provide formulations which duplicate any competitive grade of TPV, at better pricing levels. Applications for consumer and industrial products include, but needn't be limited to automotive parts, appliances, electrical products, healthcare and packaging goods and construction components.

Advantages of using grades from the StarPrene line range from excellent flexibility and colorability, resistance to many acids, bases and aqueous solutions and various processing options which include injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and thermoforming. More high flow formulations are available from the StarPrene family than with TPVs. StarPrene TPEs also meet European food standards and do not require drying.

Grades are available in both small and large quantities, with samples provided upon request.

Star Thermoplastics, founded in 1993, is a leading provider of thermoplastic elastomers with many production lines to fill both large and small orders, a full-service rheological and analytical instrumentation laboratory and trained sales and technical support personnel across the continent. Company products are sold under the trade names Starflex, StarMediflex, StarTuff, StarExtrude, StarBond, StarClear, StarGrip and StarGrip-X. With its newly enhanced rheological and analytical instrumentation laboratories, Star has the ability to duplicate any existing TPE with improved formulations at better prices.
