Elastocon Expands Medical Market Offerings; Offers Clear, Phthalate-Free TPEs as Alternates for PVC Medical Products

ROCHESTER, IL - Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc., formulator of custom and standard thermoplastic elastomer compounds and concentrates, has entered the medical tubing market foray with a line of clear, phthalate-free TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers). They are offered as alternatives to PVC (polyvinyl choride) tubing.

Elastocon® CLR Series transparent thermoplastic elastomers are available in 65 and 75 Shore A hardnesses, giving tubing a soft feel. They were developed for applications that require oil/plasticizer free and non-blooming high strength properties. The CLR Series feature excellent clarity and flexibility, offer high strength, provide a high degree of softness, have high resilience (especially for various strap applications), plus have good clamp resilience and resistance to kinking and necking. Selected grades can be overmolded onto polypropylene.

Available in ready-to-use pellets in 1,000 pound or as concentrates, the plasticizer-free TPEs are FDA compliant and well suited for applications requiring UV stability.

At the present time, Elastocon offers the 2800 Series and 8000 Series of TPEs, the SMR Series of TPOs, the STK Series for overmolding, and alloys, all of which can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded or compounded. Elastocon thermoplastic elastomers do not require drying and are offered for applications that require rubber-like properties, impact resistance, colorability, a good surface finish, easy processability, reduced material usage and numerous other features and benefits. All Elastocon grades are free from latex, and are RoHS and California Proposition 65 compliant, with many of the company offerings being FDA compliant, as well as UL and NSF approvable, and are suitable for medical applications. Elastocon can provide ISO reporting for manufacturing and shipping. All grades are reclaimable and recyclable.
