SmartDate® series is available with washdown enclosure that minimizes washdown prep and recovery time. When equipped with enclosure, products do not have to be bagged or removed from line prior to washdown procedures. Washdown unit consists of stainless steel enclosure that surrounds printhead, removable cover, stainless steel control box enclosure with hinged door, and water-tight cable entry ports. Optional heater prevents condensation inside print head.

Markem Offers Washdown Enclosure for Smartdate® Thermal Transfer Coders
Option Shortens Washdown Prep and Recovery Time
Keene, N.H. (November 28, 2005) - MARKEM Corporation now offers a washdown enclosure for the SmartDate® family of thermal transfer coders. Customers will no longer need to "bag" or remove the coder from the line prior to washdown procedures, shortening their prep and recovery time.
The washdown unit consists of:
o A stainless steel enclosure that surrounds the printhead, and features a removable cover that is easily installed prior to washdown making the unit
water-tight.
o A stainless steel control box enclosure, large enough to hold the control box and the optional SmartTouch(TM) portable control system, with a hinged door that closes to seal the unit.
o An optional heater to prevent condensation from forming inside the print head.
o A dual support bracket assembly with window end plates and diverting rolls custom fit to your specific application.
o Water tight cable entry ports.
SmartDate thermal transfer coders are ideal for flexible packaging materials and applications within the snack food, confectionary, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, baked foods and frozen foods industries.
