Extech Introduces Apex 2 Thermal Printer
Powerful, rugged, and lightweight 2" receipt printer features Class 2 Bluetooth®
Waltham, MA - Extech Instruments, a leading developer of portable printers for enterprise-wide applications, introduces the Apex 2 Direct Thermal Printer, the newest addition to the company's Apex series of thermal receipt printers. The Apex 2 is lightweight, rugged and easy-to-use; an ideal solution for today's mobile worker. The Apex 2 includes Class 2 Bluetooth® as standard wireless communication feature. A Wi-Fi option, 1 MB SRAM /4MB Flash memory, and other advanced features make the Extech Apex 2 the perfect receipt printer for a variety of mobile computing applications including Route Accounting and Ticketing.
The Apex 2 is remarkably easy to use, with its "drop-in" paper load system and easy battery replacement. It is also easy to integrate, with two new utilities. Form Fiesta is great for developing forms based applications allowing easy adoption of both page and line printing modes to increase print speed. Cassini is a new configuration utility that assists developers in correctly setting all print and communication parameters. Print utilities are available for most mobile operating systems. Apex 2 features are supported by a powerful ARM-7, 32-bit microcontroller. The Flash-based, integrated CPU contains firmware, resident barcodes and resident fonts. The Apex 2 has additional flash and SRAM memory specifically under user control for downloadable fonts, forms, and other features specific to the application under development.
The Apex 2 utilizes a high-capacity Li-Ion, 7.4V, 2200 mAh battery that can be charged internally or with an external two-bay battery charger. With advanced power management and a high capacity battery, mobile workers can print up to 1,300 feet of receipts on one battery charge with the Apex 2.
Lightweight but rugged enough for heavy duty field use due to its protective housing and rubber bumpers, the Apex 2 has been tested with multiple drop tests to steel from 1.5 meters. The printer has been certified with IEC68 for operating temperature, storage temperature, humidity, shock and vibration, and IEC 60950 Safety Certification. It is comfortable to wear all day with its belt loop system or optional shoulder strap. An IP54 rated carrying case is available for extra protection against dust and water.
