Sunrise Telecom Introduces ADSL2+ Test Solutions for the SunSet MTT Platform
World's Most Popular DSL Test Platform Addresses Testing Needs of Service Providers Migrating to ADSL2+ to Offer Triple-Play Voice, Internet and Video Services
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 19 - Sunrise Telecom Incorporated (NASDAQ:SRTI), a leading provider of service verification equipment for telecommunications and cable TV networks, today announced ADSL2+ test solutions for the SunSet MTT platform. The new ADSL2+ ATU-R module supports multiple deployed and emerging ADSL technologies, including the recent ITU-T ADSL2+ (G.992.5) standard targeted for the combined triple-play of voice, internet, and video services. The SunSet MTT ACM Chassis has been given a 2.2 MHz bandwidth enhancement to accommodate the ADSL2+ frequency spectrum for copper qualification and troubleshooting applications.
The ADSL2+ ATU-R module is geared for the Tier 1 technician tasked with fast and efficient ADSL2+ service verification. This powerful yet economical module features the easy-to-use One-Button Test, where the test set attempts to synchronize with the far end DSLAM, and upon achieving Showtime (link-up), presents a summary screen of key results including achieved data rate and SNR margin. This One-Button-Test shows whether or not the ADSL2+ link is working properly from the central office DSLAM to the customer's premises. Additionally, the module's IP ping test verifies Internet connectivity. These two simple functions empower technicians to quickly confirm proper ADSL service operation and to determine whether a problem exists on the local loop or the interoffice network.
Per the ITU-T G.992.5 recommendation, the ADSL2+ transmission frequency bandwidth is 2.2 MHz, an extension from legacy ADSL technologies, that enables greater downstream data rates. The SunSet MTT ACM chassis is enhanced to address this frequency extension, enabling technicians to properly assess the copper plant for ADSL2+ services. The 2.2 MHz enhancement applies to powerful installation and diagnostic features including insertion loss, PSD background noise, level meter, and crosstalk measurements.
"As the worldwide market leader in field DSL test solutions, the SunSet MTT naturally adds these new ADSL2+ test solutions," said Steve Kim, Product Marketing Manager for Sunrise Telecom's Access Technologies group. "They address the testing needs of service providers who are migrating to ADSL2+ for its superior bandwidth, extended reach and, as a result, its ability to deliver triple-play services. We have the right solution for new customers whether they need a low cost, simple tool, or a more powerful diagnostic solution. Our vast SunSet MTT customer base benefits the most with the superior economics of buying a new ADSL2+ ATU-R module rather than buying completely new DSL test sets. Upgrading involves just a simple plug and play."
These new ADSL2+ solutions represent another step forward in leadership for the SunSet MTT. Over 30,000 technicians around the world have made this set the most popular access network test platform for a variety of reasons including:
-- Fast, simple operation combined with handheld portability.
-- The most extensive selection of modules to address the broadest variety of access technologies.
-- Modular design to help maintain the expensive investment telephone companies make in their test equipment.
-- Four affordable host chassis tailored for specific applications and budget requirements.
ADSL2+ ATU-R modules and SunSet MTT ACM 2.2 MHz software enhancements are available now for customer evaluation and for year-end production shipments.
