Michigan Custom Machines, Inc. Reduces Cost, Complexity of Injector Test & Assembly

April 5, 2004: (Farmington Hills, MI) Michigan Custom Machines, Inc. (MCM) announces the availability of an innovative test machine to test and assemble a complete diesel fuel injector in a self-contained package. With MCM’s flexible design of the test and assembly system, fuel injector manufactures can reduce the number of people involved to assemble the products, and reduce the amount of shop floor space required by a traditional assembly cell.

MCM’s injector test and assembly solution lets a single operator load pallets with the individual components that make up the injector. As the pallet passes through the MCM machine, the injector is incrementally assembled and tested for different characteristics and marked for identification. The design is flexible to accommodate future product design and increased product throughput. The entire machine has a small footprint, and is easy to move.

MCM specifically designed and engineered the machine to reduce the costs and complexity associated with traditional injector test and assembly processes. The MCM machine accommodates several injector products with minimal changeover; automatically tracks pallets with RF tags to allow for random pallet order, and easily accommodates redundant stations for faster throughput or for different stations so products can be intermixed in the future.

Adds Michael Schena, President MCM, Inc., “What’s also noteworthy is that there is absolutely no requirement from an information technology standpoint to link the system together, as the test machine automatically manages the parameters and collects complete result data.”
