August 14, 2007 - Suitable for 19 in. rack mounting or benchtop use, M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) performs network data accuracy testing, evaluating effects of attenuation and dispersion. Unit is available with fiber that provides up to 5 dB of real fiber attenuation or up to 25 km in each of 4 individual attenuation areas. M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) can be filled with standard SMF-28e fiber or other single-or multi-mode fiber types, total lengths to 100 km, and attenuations specified at 1,310 or 1,550 nm.

Fiber Optic Field Simulator Tests Data Accuracy Over Long Distances


A test instrument that exactly simulates fiber optic field applications especially with high speed digital, to evaluate the effects of attenuation and dispersion, is available from M2 Optics, Inc. of Holly Springs, NC.

The M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) is a field simulation test instrument that houses four spools of fiber and lets users easily connect them in series with short patch cords via industry standard connectors on the front panel. Holding up to 100 km of fiber, it can be used to perform network data accuracy (BER) testing and the effects of latency with high speed digital networks by exactly simulating field conditions over hundreds of kilometers.

Available with spools of fiber that provide up to 5 dB (1550 nm) of real fiber attenuation or up to 25 km in each of four individual attenuation areas, the M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) can be filled with standard SMF-28e fiber or other single-or multi-mode fiber types, total lengths to 100 km, and atten-uations specified at 1310- or 1550 nm. Suitable for 19" rack mounting or a benchtop, it can be equipped with optional clear front panels for exhibits.

The M2 Fiber Lab 3200(TM) is priced from $4,995 (Qty 1, 55 km), depending upon configuration. Literature and pricing are available upon request.
