Teseq's New 4 kV Test Generator Ideal for Variety of EMC and CE Mark Testing Applications

Edison, N.J. October 2008 - Teseq Inc., a leading developer and provider of instrumentation and systems for EMC emission and immunity testing, has released the new multifunctional NSG 3040 test system that generates electrical fast transient (EFT), surge and power quality tests (PQT) and is fully compliant to the latest versions of IEC/EN 61000-4-4, -4-5 and -4-11, making the system ideal for use in CE mark testing.

The NSG 3040 system can generate EFT tests to 4.8kV, combination wave surges to 4.4kV and perform dip and interrupt testing. An internal coupling and decoupling network allows testing on AC and DC power lines of up to 260V and 16A. The system's capabilities can be expanded through a wide range of accessories. External couplers for three-phase power with higher voltages and currents are available as well as couplers for balanced and unbalanced data lines. Other accessories are available for generating line voltage variations and magnetic field testing to IEC/EN 61000-4-8 and -4-9.

Teseq's new generator features a unique master-slave concept, which enables pulse generator modules to be quickly added to the original system configuration. This capability allows for individual pulse modules to be calibrated separately with the calibration data and correction factors to be stored on the slave controller. New modules can also be simply installed without the user having to return the entire system for calibration.

Teseq's new generator features an innovative design that uses modular architecture to provide system configurations to meet the needs of basic and sophisticated test laboratories. The generator's user-friendly interface is complete with a 7" high contrast, color touch-screen complete with superb graphics to enable quick set-up of test procedures. Standardized tests can also be triggered with a few clicks using the integrated Direct Test Access (DTA) for ease of use. The NSG 3040 offers inputs supported by an integrated keyboard or thumbwheel with additional keys for sensitivity adjustment.

With the use of the system's generously sized touch input buttons, each parameter's value is easily identified and all settings can be quickly selected and modified. In addition, multi-step test procedures can be created and sequence or parameter values easily changed. The generator also offers an expert mode feature that, when selected, allows the user to make a manual parameter change with the wheel during a test. This option is an effective and fast method for easy activation of critical threshold values.

The NSG 3040 features a standard secure digital (SD) memory card reader, so firmware downloads can be performed quickly and tests specified by the user will be saved completely. The use of a standard memory card will allow users to conveniently upgrade to higher memory capacity as needed.

A wide range of optional test accessories is available for use with the NSG 3040 system.

Pricing for the NSG 3040 starts at under $16,000. Lead-time is approximately 8-12 weeks ARO.

Teseq Inc. was formerly known as Schaffner Test Systems until a management buyout was finalized in November 2006. The company provides EMC instrumentation and systems for radiated and conducted interference in the automotive, consumer electronics, telecommunications, medical, aerospace and defense industries. It has approximately 130 employees and has been accredited to perform calibration services according to ISO 17025 at its Edison, N.J. laboratory. Teseq is the only pulsed immunity manufacturer in North America with an accredited calibration lab.
