Wavelink's Industry Leading Terminal Emulation Client Reduces Enterprise Implementation Costs and Improves Task Worker Productivity and Efficiency
SALT LAKE CITY -- Wavelink, a business unit of LANDesk Software, today announced the release of Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) for iOS. TE for iOS provides reliable, secure data and host application access for iOS mobile device users. This latest installment of TE follows previously announced support for the Android platform, making Wavelink TE the only terminal emulation solution that supports all of the major mobile operating systems, including Windows, Android and Apple.
Enterprises are increasingly adopting iOS devices to take advantage of their sleek appearance and easy-to-learn functionality for customer-facing task workers. Modern task workers use these iOS devices as mobile POS systems as well as a multipurpose productivity tools. However, for some task workers, the mobile freedom provided by these devices can be undercut if they need to access another screen to complete tasks such as stock-lookups and delivery schedules. With the new TE for iOS, these inventory, stocking and workflow tasks are now supported on iOS devices, increasing the flexibility of enterprise mobility deployments while improving task worker efficiency and productivity.
"Terminal emulation and mobile device technology combine as core building blocks on which many companies do business," said Steve Bemis, vice president of worldwide sales at Wavelink. "With TE for iOS, in addition to our existing support of Windows and Android platforms, enterprises are empowered to make the device choices that are right for them and their task workers, whether it's an Apple device on the retail floor, an Android device in the hands of a delivery truck driver or a Windows device in the warehouse. Wavelink's platform supports all of these, eliminating the need to choose between existing systems and new device technology."
Wavelink's TE is deployed on over 7 million devices around the world and has been selected by 9 of the 10 largest global retailers to provide reliable, secure mobile access to host applications. Enterprises can easily manage and scale mission-critical applications on a variety of mobile devices and operating systems, ensuring end users always have access to the tools they need to be productive and efficient. Organizations can work smarter to provide intelligent data collection and communications functions, take advantage of easy on-screen navigation, and maximize the uptime of a workforce by avoiding dropped connections, directed messages and error notices.
