October 2, 2008 - Model CAT6095 12-bit digital output temperature sensor provides ±1°C temperature sensing accuracy from +75 to +95°C and ±3°C accuracy from -20 to +125°C, across entire supply voltage range of 3.0-3.6 V. Suited for DDR3 memory module applications in high-speed PCs and laptops, environmental control systems, and industrial process control equipment, it is available in space-saving 2 x 3 x 0.55 mm height UDFN as well as standard 2 x 3 x 0.8 mm TDFN package.

Catalyst Semiconductor Enters Temperature Sensor Market with 12-Bit Digital Device


SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 24, 2008 - Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. a supplier of analog, mixed-signal and non-volatile memory semiconductors, has unveiled its first device in a new line of temperature sensors. The new CAT6095 is a 12-bit digital output temperature sensor available in an ultra-thin, 0.55mm height UDFN package for DDR3 memory module applications in high-speed PCs and laptops, environmental control systems and industrial process control equipment. The UDFN package provides accurate temperature monitoring in a 30 percent lower profile package compared to standard 2 x 3 x 0.8mm TDFN packages.

The CAT6095 is compliant to JEDEC specification JC42.4, providing ±1°C temperature sensing accuracy from +75°C to +95°C and ±3°C accuracy from -20°C to +125°C, across the device's entire supply voltage range (3.0 to 3.6V). It measures and records the system temperature approximately 10 times per second, with readings compared to three trigger limits stored in the internal memory registers. Readings can be retrieved by the host system via the I2C/SMBus interface, with over- and under-limit conditions signaled on the open-drain EVENT pin.

In addition to the space-saving 2 x 3 x 0.55mm height UDFN package, the CAT6095 is also available in the standard 2 x 3 x 0.8mm TDFN package. Both packages contain an integrated backside metal pad for enhanced PC board thermal contact and faster sensing response time.
