Temperature Sensors / Detectors / Transducers
Temperature Sensor includes on-board noise filtering.
Press Release Summary:
Equipped with cold junction compensation, 1051 PhidgetTemperatureSensor provides temperature update rate of approximately 30 Hz, ambient resolution of 0.25°C, thermocouple resolution of 0.05°C, and thermocouple accuracy of 2°C. Users can program plug-and-play device using API that is supported under Windows, Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux. Programs can be written in Visual Basic, VB.NET, C#, C/C++, Flash/Flex, Java, Labview, Matlab, ActionScript 3.0, and Cocoa.
Original Press Release:
The New Version of the 1051 - PhidgetTemperatureSensor is a Lot More Accurate than the Previous Model
We have also added on-board filtering to reduce noise by 80 to 90% and we are using a more accurate calibration process.
The selling price of the new version of the 1051 remains at $60 CAD.
CALGARY, Alberta, October 3, 2008 - Phidgets Inc. announced that the new version of the 1051 shows significant improvements in both reliability and accuracy through the addition of on-board filtering, cold junction compensation and optimized calibration methods. The new version replaces the previous version of the product.
"Users of the previous version of the 1051 have asked us if we could improve on the reliability and accuracy of the product without increasing the selling price; we had a hard look at our previous design and came up with the current version which does address all our users concerns" says Chester Fitchett, CEO of Phidgets.

Software Environment
"Unlike a lot of our competitor's products that require their users to write some firmware code in order to use their sensor, we are completely "Plug and Play" says Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing. "With Phidgets, you plug it in and start using it and when it comes to programming, the user, not us, decides which operating system and which computer language he wants to use", added Rousseau.
Users can program Phidgets using a simple yet powerful and well documented Application Programming Interfade (API) that is supported under Windows (2000, XP, Vista), Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux. Users can write programs in Visual Basic, VB.NET, C#, C/C++, Flash/Flex, Java, Labview, Matlab, ActionScript 3.0, and Cocoa.
Phidgets also provides programming examples for all its products to help programmers write their own programs. The API Libraries as well as the examples and the documentation are available at no charge on Phidgets.com.
Pricing and Availability
The new version of the 1051 PhidgetTemperatureSensor is available now. The suggested resale price remains at $60.00 Canadian.
