August 24, 2010 - Equipped with temperature transmitter, CoolPoint(TM) vortex shedding flowmeters measure and monitor flow and temperature in processing water, water with chemicals added, water/glycol coolant, and corrosive fluids. Flow bodies are available in brass or stainless steel, and design has no moving parts. Available in ¾-4 in. pipe sizes with respective max flow rates from 25-600 gpm, electronic meter provides temperature readouts from 32 to 210°F and offers ±.25% flow/temperature repeatability.

Universal Flow Monitors Offers Flowmeters with Temperature Measuring Capabilities

Universal Flow Monitors, Inc. offers CoolPoint(TM) vortex shedding flowmeters with a temperature transmitter for measuring and monitoring both flow and temperature in processing water, water with chemicals added, water/glycol coolant and corrosive fluids. CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters with an optional temperature transmitter are designed for cooling applications involving heat removal. CoolPoint(TM) efficiently measures the flow rate of fluids. Meters with the transmitter have the added capability of monitoring temperature readings and transmitting them to a process controller. CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters are available with brass flow bodies for water and coolant and with stainless steel flow bodies for corrosive fluids and water with chemicals added. Models with temperature transmitter are available in pipe sizes ranging from 3/4 inch (maximum flow rate 25 gallons per minute, 95 liters per minute) to 4 inches (maximum 600 GPM, 2271 LPM). These meters provide temperature readouts ranging from 32 degrees F to 210 degrees F, which can be expressed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius on the local LED readout. CoolPoint(TM) meters with a temperature transmitter provide the flow repeatability and accuracy that help achieve process control. Flow and temperature repeatability of +/-.25 percent (1/4 of 1 percent) of indicated flow is standard. Flow accuracy of +/-2 percent full-scale and temperature accuracy of +/-3 percent of indicated temperature. The CoolPoint(TM) flowmeter is easy to specify, install and use. It is an electronic meter that has no moving parts to stick or coat. The meter is sold by pipe size, and all other features are selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face. Selections include a set point for flow and temperature alarm. Wiring is simplified by use of a pin connector optionally sold with the product. CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters are non-mechanical meters that can measure and monitor fluids which may contain particles. Unlike mechanical switches, the vortex shedding meters have no moving parts to stick or coat, eliminating potential for clogging. Totalizing capability is available to increase the CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters' ability to measure, monitor and control the total amount of fluid used in a process. A flow totalizer with reset button and six-digit LED is offered as a special option on all CoolPoint(TM) pipe sizes. The flow totalizer features a pulse output and a display in either liters or gallons. Universal Flow Monitors, Inc., located in Hazel Park, Mich., has manufactured flowmeters for a variety of industries for more than 20 years. The company can be reached at (248) 542-9635 or at www.flowmeters.com.
