April 30, 2004 - Microprocessor-based, Series 59 uses large LEDs to display temperature and other parameters, which are programmed using 2 pushbuttons on face of device. Temperature is sensed by thermistor, RTD, thermocouple, or solid-state relay. Differential and set point offset values are fully adjustable, permitting application-specific programming. Controller accepts 24 Vac/Vdc or 120/208/240 Vac power supplies. Outputs include 5 A SPDT, 30 A SPST, 15 A SPDT, and SSR driver.

Fenwal Introduces Feature-Rich Next Generation Of Versatile Series 59 Temperature Controller

Ashland, MA - April 26, 2004 - Acting on a policy of continuous improvement, a new version of Fenwal's Series 59 microprocessor-based temperature controller features enhanced flexibility and options, making it a versatile, accurate heating/cooling control that can be tailored to be designed into a broad array of OEM applications. New features include added power input choices, more sensor options, four different relay output options, alarm and time functions, and a wider operating temperature capability. End uses range from commercial cooking appliances, freezers and refrigerators to industrial machinery such as laminators, plastics processing and packaging equipment, hot melt glue systems, and saunas.

The Series 59 is designed for fast, trouble-free installation and wiring. It is easy to use, displays temperature and other parameters on large, easy-to-read LEDs, and provides accurate, stable control. Temperature is sensed by a thermistor, RTD, thermocouple or solid state relay, and the Fenwal 59 turns a heater or refrigeration unit on or off as programmed. Set point temperatures and other parameters are easy and intuitive to program using two push buttons on the face of the device. Differential and set point offset values are fully adjustable, permitting application-specific programming for stable control and less frequent cycling. Settings can be tamper proof, factory pre-set, or field adjustable. The Series 59 includes timer features that can sound an alarm or shut down processes at a pre-determined temperature set point. The LED display shows set point or process temperature and error messages, and a status light indicates when the controller is heating or cooling.

This next-generation Fenwal Series 59 now accepts 24 VAC/VDC or 120/208/240 VAC power supplies, and can be used in conjunction with thermocouples or solid state relays, in addition to thermistors and RTD sensors. Output types now include 5A SPDT, 30A SPST and 15A SPDT, and an SSR driver. Fenwal's Series 59 temperature controller is certified to UL Standard 873 and meets the requirements of CSA Standard CAN C22.2 Mp. 24-93, and ANSI Z21.23 for gas appliance approval. CE approval is pending. Pricing typically starts at $30, contingent upon actual device configuration and annual volume.
