Leonard Valve Now Offers Paraffin-Based Temperature Valves in Addition to Bi-Metal Solutions for More Control Options

CRANSTON, RI - The new LV980 Series temperature valves from Leonard Valve Company, based on paraffin technology, deliver optimal control for domestic hot water systems and responsively control temperature and pressure fluctuations.

According to Peter Gobis III, national sales manager for Leonard Valve, the paraffin-based valves offer an alternative control technology option. "The LV980 Series valves complement our line of bi-metal valves, giving facilities and plumbing engineers more choices for meeting their water-tempering needs," he said.

The LV980 valves provide accurately mixed water from flows as low as 2.5 GPM (9 lpm) to high flow requirements and are suitable for hot water systems in hotels, hospitals, and other commercial and institutional installations. Several models are available for group/individual shower applications and hydrotherapy in exposed and cabinet assemblies.

The valves control temperature and pressure by directing hot and cold water supplies to a mixing chamber where the thermostatic element is located. When an inlet temperature or pressure fluctuation causes a rise in outlet temperature, the highly responsive paraffin elements expand and move a piston. This allows for a restriction in the hot supply and a proportional increase in the cold supply. The reverse occurs when the water temperature decreases.

The LV980 Series valves are listed and passed to the stringent performance requirements of ASSE Standard 1017.

Since 1913, Leonard Valve Company has been the quality leader in the manufacture of thermostatic water mixing valves. All Leonard water temperature control products are made of the highest quality materials and manufactured to the most critical engineering specifications.
