Teflon Coated Ejectors Help Prevent Clogging in Edible-oil Applications
CHS, a leading provider of edible oils and other agricultural products and services, employs Croll-Reynolds' ejectors for processing soybean oils. CR ejectors are used throughout the edible oil industry for refining and processing vegetable oils and flavorings. The ejectors operate without moving parts and seldom require maintenance.
Chuck Kortuen, chief engineer at the CHS Mankato, Minnesota plant, fitted out existing steam chest nozzle assemblies with Teflon liners specifically designed by Croll-Reynolds, Westfield, NJ. The Teflon was applied to nozzle holders and successfully stopped degradation caused by soybean oil collecting at the ejector nozzles.
In the past, Kortuen reports, the 304 stainless steel ejector nozzles frequently required cleaning as part of a 6-month corrective maintenance cycle. Now, with the Teflon lined assembly, nothing sticks or clogs the nozzles.
