IBM Digital Linear Tape VS160 SCSI Tape Drive Deliver Excellent Storage Capacity and Data Transfer

Overview

The 80/160 GB Half-High Digital Linear Tape (DLT) VS160 Internal SCSI Tape Drive joins the IBM family of DLT tape offerings available for IBM eserver xSeries servers.

Take advantage of solid performance, excellent data storage
capacity, and a high-density form factor while using popular VS backup technology.

Performance

The tape drive, using Ultra160 Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI interface, delivers strong performance with data transfers up to:

• 8 MB/s in native mode(28.8 GB/hr)

• 16 MB/s in compressed mode (57.6 GB/hr)

High density

The VS160 tape backup is a compact, high-density storage device that provides excellent storage capacity for entry- to mid-range server applications. Its 5.25-inch, half-high form factor enables economical internal installation into many xSeries servers. Storage capabilities are up to:

• 80 GB in native mode

• 160 GB in compressed mode

Easy to use and service

The tape drive enables easy microcode updates over the SCSI bus.

The device contains convenient LEDs combined with on-board diagnostics to indicate:

• Drive operating status

• Need for head cleaning

• Error conditions

You can order a tape media multipack option for the 80/160
VS160 tape drive. It includes five data cartridges.
