Low Cost of Ownership and Reliability with the New Freecom TapeWare DAT 160 Series

The inexpensive drive for small, medium and enterprise business

August 2007 - Freecom have released the latest addition to their Professional Backup Family of TapeWare drives, the Freecom DAT 160 which utilizes HP's leading technology. Available as both an internal and external tape drive, they are ideal for small to medium businesses and enterprise work groups requiring high capacity, performance and reliability.

Recognising the budget constraints of IT departments, Freecom offers a drive that can store up to 160GB* on a single cartridge, with transfers rates of up to 49.7 GB/hr*. This makes the total cost of owning a Freecom TapeWare DAT 160 more affordable throughout the drives lifecycle.

The Freecom TapeWare DAT 160 is the sixth generation of HP's proven DDS/DAT technology. The tape drive offers backward compatibility to the previous DAT 72 and DDS-4 generations, allowing a simple migration path for the 6 million DDS/DAT users, ensuring that when they upgrade to this drive their business is just as secure as it ever was, but with low total cost of ownership.

In addition, the Freecom TapeWare DAT 160 drive comes with a choice of interfaces, USB 2.0 or legacy Ultra SCSI-3 and comes in a 5.25 inch half-height form factor.

Freecom's DAT 160 makes the migration from legacy back up systems to an updated system run smoothly. Compatible connectivity with leading servers, operating systems and back up software ensures the DAT 160 offers a fast and reliable backup solution for busy IT managers.

For piece of mind the Freecom Tapeware DAT 160 Kit comes with three years express exchange warranty, media, Yosemite backup software and cables. The DAT 160 series is the idea product for large departmental LANs, email, applications, web servers and large workstations, where backup performance is a growing issue.
