August 9, 2011 - With DC leakage at 0.0075 CV, T489 Series is suited for decoupling and filtering in high-end industrial and automotive applications. Units are rated from 6.3-50 Vdc with capacitance values from 0.1-470 µF and tolerances of ±10% and ±20%. Standard terminations are available in 100% matte tin and provide compatibility with surface mount solder systems. Operating from -55 to +125°C, RoHS-compliant capacitors use halogen-free epoxy and meet or exceed EIA standard 535BAAC.

Kemet Announces Low DC Leakage Series Tantalum Surface Mount Capacitors


Greenville, South Carolina - KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading manufacturer of tantalum, ceramic, aluminum, film, paper and electrolytic capacitors, today announced the release of its Low DC Leakage MnO2 Series Tantalum Surface Mount Capacitors. This option is ideal for decoupling and filtering in industrial and automotive high end applications.

"KEMET's T489 Low DC Leakage Series provides 25% lower leakage than standard MnO2 tantalum capacitors, with better reliability, as well as low ESR options," said Stanley Garrett, KEMET Technical Product Manager. "This device was developed in response to applications requiring low DC leakage current in the circuit, such as tire pressure monitoring sensors and various wireless sensor applications."

The T489 standard terminations are available in 100% matte tin and provide excellent wetting characteristics and compatibility with today's surface mount solder systems. Tin/lead (SnPb) and gold-plated terminations are available upon request for any part number. This system provides perfect compatibility with all tape-fed placement units.
