Agfa HealthCare launches DRYSTAR(TM) AXYS(TM) in the United States

Compact tabletop imager that meets stringent mammography requirements now available worldwide

Press release RSNA (South Hall A # 4106) / Chicago, USA November 25, 2007 10:00

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces today that it is introducing to the United States market its DRYSTAR(TM) AXYS(TM) tabletop imager, a compact hardcopy solution designed to fit a full range of applications including mammography, CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Computed Radiography (CR), and Direct Radiography (DR). The DRYSTAR AXYS is a multi-application, Direct Digital Imager (DDI) delivering mammography-quality images with 508 dpi image resolution, very short access time, and full flexibility with two film sizes on-line. The solution is currently the only tabletop dry hardcopy printer on the market that meets the stringent mammography requirements of the US market.

Agfa HealthCare's DRYSTAR AXYS has been designed with maximum user friendliness and user convenience in mind. Input trays can be loaded with media in daylight without concern for ambient light. Two fully flexible input trays accept five media sizes and three film types (blue-clear-mammography), meeting the diverse media requirements of a busy centralized workflow environment. The compact design of the DRYSTAR AXYS means that it can be installed in space-restricted environments or, using an optional mobile mounting kit, in mobile vans.

All Agfa HealthCare's DRYSTAR imagers incorporate the company's Direct Digital Imaging (DDI) technology, a software that controls every pixel in an image for excellent and consistent image quality. The award-winning DDI software includes A#Sharp(TM) technology, which enhances imaging capability, for sharper image quality across all applications.

At the Ev. Jung-Stilling-Krankenhaus in Siegen, Germany, an acute-care facility with 414 beds, Agfa HealthCare's DRYSTAR AXYS has already been installed. The hospital has been evaluating the solution since early September 2007. In addition to mammography, the desktop imager is used for general radiology. "The system reliably prints excellent, premium quality images, which is indispensable in discerning small and subtle structures of the mamma", says Dr. Dieter Hebborn, Radiology Center Intern. "This system delivers diagnostic quality printouts of breast images."

"The DRYSTAR AXYS' ability to handle different requirements in a table-top solution means that it will function as a central point, or axis; of delivery in many facilities, and this is reflected in the name we have chosen for this state-of-the-art imager," states Jan Leeuws, Agfa HealthCare Global Business Unit Manager Film & Print. "Its ability to handle multiple applications, including mammography quality images, one of the most demanding of all imaging requirements, makes this solution a convenient, all-around solution, meeting the needs of all types of healthcare facilities and departments."

Agfa HealthCare invites you to visit its booth at RSNA 2007 (South Building - Hall A - # 4106) to discover its solutions and Works in Progress.
